Rewarding moments for a photographer...... Posted by Picasa

My first ever Indian train. Yes, the people do sit on top, and seem happy and were waiving. I was deeply impressed seeing it passing, somehow reminded me on the Harry Potter film, like another world.....and suddenly it was gone and silence settled in again.... Posted by Picasa

Trip to Baroda and Limda in Gujarat State

This is the entrance to the old town. Bad weather, but the ladies color the day. Posted by Picasa
The Color Festival. It might look like kids slaughtering a fellow, but in fact they do try to 'anoint' each other with as much red color powder as possible, adding the constant monsoon rain (it was still September) makes the scene look rather cruel for outsiders...but believe me, they did have fun. Posted by Picasa

Very curious what is going on outside their school:) Posted by Picasa
In front of the nursery (there is an initiative by villages going on, where children are watched by an old woman during the day in order for the parents to follow their professions, thus resembling the concept of kindergarden, just slightly more rustical). The oldest man of the village (facing) showed us these facilities at Limda village. Posted by Picasa

Holy Places

At Pavadagh. Ever wondered, where the red dot on the forehead comes from? Visiting the temple, you do it yourself or someone gives you the treat. Posted by Picasa

Trip to Agra: Taj Mahal and Red Fort

Two Mosques are situated to the left and right of the Taj, respectively. One of them, however, is only for the symmetry of the whole complex, as it isnt directed to Mekka. Posted by Picasa
The Holy cow: An impressive animal. Posted by Picasa
In this building one has to leave the mobile phones and other eletronical devices before going inside the Taj Mahal. In most of the temples mobiles are restricted. Rightly so.. Posted by Picasa

Poverty

On the way towards Agra. The not so nice nor fascinating sides of India. But one gets used to it amazingly quick....

In front of Red Fort in Agra. I LOVE these Ambassador cars (the white roundish Oldtimers in front) . If ever I had some EUR10.000 spare, I would immediately buy one. Even more comfortable than the Snook (Old Citroen), with curtains inside and the flagholder in front. During British India, this was practically the only car around and used mainly by high officials. Nowadays Indians seem to like the Indicas, Marutis and other small modern cars more and are less fascinated than I am. Well understandably, I wouldnt buy a Wartburg or Trabant either. One likes to upgrade...
